Who is the visa for?
General Work Visas are issued to foreigners in cases where it has been proven that South Africans or permanent residents with the necessary qualifications, skills and experience are unavailable for appointment.
- The applicant must have the qualifications, experience and skills in line with the job offer.
- A contract of employment which stipulates the conditions of employment, signed by all parties. the contract must be in line with the labour standards in the republic and is made conditional upon the general work visa being approved.
- Proof of qualifications evaluated by SAQA and translated by a trusted translator into one of the official languages of the republic.
- Complete details of the employer, including proof of registration of the business with the Commission on Intellectual Property and Companies (CIPC).
An accompanying spouse or partner visa can be applied for but this simply allows for entry and stay in South Africa. If the spouse or partner also wish to get a job, they would need to apply for the proper work visa themselves.
Children would need to have a separate application made for a study visa.
